Asbury Revival

February 18, 2023

I have been thinking about the Asbury Revival this past week. There have been many conflicting opinions shared as to whether or not Asbury Revival’s a ‘real’ revival or if it is being hyped up. There are people arguing all over social media about it.
I’ve seen posts of other churches and college campuses also stating there is revival happening in their schools and God is working on their campuses and pictures of students worshiping, crying and praying all over the country now.

I’m not completely void of having this idea cross my mind of whether this is real or not? As I see other churches posting their colleges worshiping Asbury Revival almost seems like a trend right now and it is so easy in this day and age to jump on a trend. We see it all the time on Instagram and TikTok. People are quick to do ridiculous dances, challenges and voiceovers. However, I was convicted as soon as the thought crossed my mind.

How in the world could I be critical and wonder if this is just a trend being copied? What other trend would I want copied more than the praise and worship of Jesus Christ??

I was humbled by this and I was also brought to the passage in Philippians when Paul was saying that there are people who preach and teach from selfish ambition and those who are genuine but as long as the gospel is going forth and Christ is proclaimed, we should rejoice.

Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice,
Philippians 1:15‭-‬18

If you are somewhat of a skeptic like I was or just doubting in general my encouragement is for us to not do that. Let’s open our church doors, our campuses, our hearts and Praise and worship our Savior and King who is wonderful and beautiful. I pray many others will be drawn to the forgiveness and love of Jesus and lives would be saved. This is a ‘trend’ that I hope spreads over this entire country, grasps this generation and infiltrates this world. May we worship Him in this 11th hour.

Where two or more are gathered in his name, God is there. So gather. God is always working. God is always reviving hearts. Let this revival begin with you.

The Lord Bless you and Keep you,
Kara
