It’s Ok To Cry

July 6, 2021
Cry
You who are my Comforter in sorrow, my heart is faint within me.
Jeremiah 8:18

It’s Ok To Cry, I want to encourage and remind you that the Lord hears your prayers, sees your tears and knows the heartache of your soul. There have been times in my life when my heart has been broken and distraught for reasons that seemed out of my control or honestly unimportant.  Sometimes the reasons I was distraught and brokenhearted would have never even made sense to anyone else. There are times in life when you cannot describe the pain you are feeling or the heartache and grief you are experiencing. But God knows the unspoken cries of our soul.  God hears the cries that you think are silent but that pour before the throne of heaven. God, our comforter, is the one who will restore our souls. It’s Ok to cry.

Cry
He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
Psalms 23:3

There are times in life when I have thought that a situation or issue was not a big deal and that I didn’t need to bother God with such small insignificant things. I imagined He was a God with better things to do than listen to my insecurities one more time. There are starving children and other worldwide needs much bigger than me. Right?? It’s Ok to cry.

  • Have you ever felt this way?
  • Have you ever felt that there is no way the God of the universe- who created billions of people, who formed Mount Everest and the oceans that stretch as far as the eye can see could ever care about the fact you are upset?
  • Have you ever felt a God so big does not care about an issue so ‘small‘?

It’s Ok to cry. Issues like I do not I have friends, or my relationship with my parents is not how it should be, or there is no way I have enough strength to handle the work day, or take care of a newborn with colic, or deal with a broken marriage, or I’m just a having a day of being sad, depressed and anxious for no real good reason…. We can tend to see God as a big God with bigger problems than ours and that we are just an insignificant blip in the pages of history.

Cry

But I want to tell you that this perspective is wrong. The God who created every major detail of life and the world we know, every mountain and ocean also created the smallest invisible cell. The DNA code that makes you-you was woven together by him.

And because of this you can be sure he cares about little details and major occurrences.

He cares about the tears shed from a stubbed toe and the pain cried out when giving birth. He cares about the small worry of ‘will they like me at this new school‘ and the major worry of ‘how will I provide for my family when my job just closed down‘.

Friend, every aspect of who you are is important to God and He says pray continually and cast all of your cares on Him. Not just the cares we think are necessary, or the ones we think He will care about, all of them, 1 Peter 5:7. No matter how big or how small we ‘think’ they are God is the God of every portion of your life.

tears
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
Jeremiah 31:3

There will always be people suffering greatly around us, but He cares intimately about how you are suffering. He has the power and might to hold every one of His children and comfort them in the exact way that they need. You do not need to wonder if there is enough room in Gods heart for you. He already said there is. He loves you abundantly and perfectly and with everlasting love.

The Holy Spirit prays on our behalf in wordless groans, in the moments when we do not have the words to say. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us. I promise you today, our great God, who loves small details, will soothe and comfort your heart. When you rely on Him for this you will experience lasting peace and security in your relationship as you trust Him with every aspect of your emotions, both big and small. He knows you better than you know yourself and He wants to speak truth to your heart and comfort you today.

sadness
The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalms 27:1

The Lord bless you and Keep you,

Kara
